| After joining city service as a clerical employee, Faye became a caseworker in Child Welfare and became a member of SSEU Local 371. Active in advocating for workers' right on location, she joined the Union staff in 1993 as an Executive Assistant to the president. She was the first elected Vice President of Grievances and Legal Services in 1994.
Since then she has supervised a staff of eleven and the Union's two law firms. The Grievance staff processes and wins more grievances and disciplinaries than any other local in DC37 and has scored victories worth tens of thousands of dollars for Union members. Faye has served as chair of the legal Services fund for fourteen years.
"I passionately believe in providing the best representation possible for our union members," she says. "In a vast City bureaucracy, the union provides workers with a voice and an advocate."
Faye has served as the Co-Chair of the Woman's Committee and Co-chair of the Black History Committee. |
