The Union would like to inform the membership that Ingrid Beaumont has resigned from her position as Vice President of Organization and Education. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

The Union's Executive Committee will appoint an interim VP, as is mandated by the AFSCME constitution. We will keep you informed about that process as it goes forward.

The Presidential election--as well as numerous state elections--will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. This is an important election for working people, so if you haven't registered to vote, please do.

The Senate will take up the Bring Jobs Home Act tomorrow. This bill—S. 2884—would stop allowing corporations to deduct their moving expenses when they offshore good American jobs to other countries.

Today, July 17 at 5:30 pm at Union Square there will be a NYC Labor and UWUA 1-2 Rally for a Fair Contract.

Assemble at the Con Ed HQ Picket Line at 4 Irving Place at 4:30 pm and march w/locked out local 1-2 workers to Union Square.

HRA, the Office of Staff Resources (OSR) in collaboration with the Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work, have arranged a Licensing Prep Course for all HRA staff who are serving in social work titles and have not yet attained their NYS Social Work Licensure.

There will be a meeting of the Women's Committee on July 11, 2012. This is the last meeting before the Annual Card and Dance Party on July 20, 2012. All members of the committee are expected to attend this important meeting.

The Supreme Court today upheld the health-care reform package pushed by the Obama administration.
