Reminder: June 12 Rally for City Contract

We encourage all of our members to participate in the June 12 rally at City Hall, telling the current mayor and the next mayor that city workers need a contract with real raises and real benefits.

The more workers come out, the more City Hall will listen.

SSEU Local 371 members will meet at 3:30 pm on  the corner of Murray and Church Streets. Make your voices heard!

Saving NYCHA Services

On Thursday, June 13 at 10 a.m., the City Council will hold a hearing regarding the sequester and its effect on the New York City Housing Authority. The Union is concerned that this loss of federal funds could result in cuts to senior and community centers, places where our members work.

Mayoral Candidates Listen to SSEU Local 371

Three candidates for mayor (Comptroller John Liu, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and former Comptroller William Thompson) came to the most recent Executive Committee meeting to hear from SSEU Local 371 about members' concerns. Many members talked about the need for a new citywide contract and fears about privatization of city services.

Mayoral Forum: Latino Community Issues

There will be a televised mayoral debate focusing on the Latino community Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

It will be hosted by CUNY/Hunter College, and take place at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College East 68th Street (between Park and Lexington Ave).

Space is limited and a reservation is required.

MLC Rally Reminder, and New Video

Reminder: Members are encouraged to attend the Municipal Labor Committee Rally Wednesday, June 12 at 4 p.m. at City Hall to protest the fact that nearly all City unions are without contracts. It is important that as many workers as possible attend in order to let the current mayor and the next mayor know that we demand adequate raise increases.
