When filing a grievance, the Delegate/Alternate must follow a specific procedure and members are encouraged to work with the Delegate/Alternate to ensure that the procedure is followed. Formal grievances must be filed in "steps", permitting members to appeal to the "next level" of authority if their grievances are not satisfactorily dealt with:
Step I:
(1) Filed within 120 Days after the date the grievance arose [NOTE: ''Out-of-Title" Grievances must be filed within 30 Days of assignment in order to claim full retroactive pay];
(2) Presented in writing on a Union Grievance Form and/or memorandum clearly marked "Grievance" addressed to the Location Head (or Director). Forms can be downloaded form this web site -- just click on "Form" in the column to the left.
Step Ia:
For employees of the Health and Hospitals Corporation, this intermediate step involves submitting your grievance document to the Director of Labor Relations are your specific facility.
Step II:
If no response to the Union's "Step I" grievance is received within three (3) work days, or, if a satisfactory grievance decision is not enforced by the Agency within a reasonable amount of time, the Delegate/Alternate will proceed to "Step II," sending the grievance to your Agency's Director of Labor Relations with copies of the "Step I" attached. Copies of all "Step II" grievances should be sent to the Union.
Step III:
Unsatisfactory "Step II" responses may be appealed to "Step III" within 10 work days of Union receipt by addressing the grievance to:
