U.S. Census 2010

It’s time to stand up and be counted. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census has an important impact on the jobs of public sector workers.

As stated on the Census fact sheet , (provided courtesy of the ILCA), “[The Census] determines the distribution of more than $400 billion annually of government funding for critical community services.  Census information helps determine locations for schools, roads, hospitals, job training, child-care and senior centers, and more.”

The Census provides an important source of temporary jobs in local communities, and determines how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Union members are encouraged to complete the Census form when they receive it, and to familiarize themselves with opportunities for local jobs.
